Interior Design Factors to Consider Before Buying the Persian Carpet
1. The Dimensions

The first thing to consider when shopping for a Persian carpet is the dimension of your space. First, you must decide how much of the floor will be covered with the rug.
For example, if you have stunning hardwood flooring, consider a smaller-sized Persian rug not to hide the natural beauty of your existing wood floor. Additionally, whether you want the rug to sit under the couch or simply under the coffee table?
It’s up to you to decide and is personal to each room. All you need to be
creative- measure the space, envision the rug, and play around with your sizing options.
1. The purpose of space
This is specific to your style at home but is something to think about to narrow down the search for the perfect Persian carpet. Do you want a rug that elevates the room into a more formal space?
If so, look for floral designs and softer colors. If you prefer a more relaxed look, seek out muted colors and geometric patterns in the Persian carpet. Also, consider the foot traffic of the room as well. In an area where many shoes walk, try a darker rug to make maintenance and cleaning easier.
2. Design Style of the Space
Although a Persian Carpet is an interior decor element that can solely accentuate the whole interior space itself. But in order to keep the interior design on track you need to select a design style for the rest of the interior elements and decor.
This step helps in buying the right type of Persian Carpet- the colors, and motifs which compliment the overall interior design of a space.

1. Check The Wool Elevation
Low-piled rugs attract less dirt and dust and are easier to clean. They also wear more evenly and are easier to place as furniture won’t wobble if you need to place your furniture half on and half off the rug because of space constraints.
Another way to test the quality of the wool is to run your hand over the wool nap. If it feels smooth and slightly oily, it is good.
2. City vs Tribal
It is important to make sure you only compare tribal with tribal and city with city.
City rugs will always win with regards to better finish, sleeker looks, and higher knot count. However, although tribal rugs have lower knot counts and a less-than-perfect finish, they have a rugged, folk-art look that has its charm. Unless they are outrageously badly made (which is very rare), these rugs are considered to be of fine quality.
● Tribal Carpets
Qashqai Carpet
These wool rugs owe their spontaneity and aliveness to the fact that they have been woven creatively without any pattern. Nomadic Qashqai women dissemble the simple story of their lives, mostly nature and animal pictures, in their textiles. Qashqai carpets are not only beautiful in themselves, but they also add beauty to any room where they lie.
Bijar Carpet
The colors of Bijar rugs are exquisite, with light and dark blues, and saturated to light, pale madder red. The designs are traditionally Persian, with predominant Herati, but also Mina Khani, Harshang, and simple medallion forms. Frequently the design is more rectilinear, but Bijar rugs are more easily identified by their peculiar, stiff, and heavy weaving than by any design.
● City Carpets
Tabriz Carpet
Tabriz carpets have the most beautiful designs you could ever find in a carpets range. The Raw materials used in Tabriz carpets are usually wool and silk. Tabriz carpets are famous for their vast diversity of designs (medallion, Herati/Mahi, figural, pictorial, and so on) in addition to preserving the highest technical standards. Turkish knots are usually used in these Persian carpets, which are woven in large sizes.
Naien Carpets
In hundreds of villages around Naein, locals weave Naein carpets. Most Naein carpets have a knot density of 300 to 700 knots per inch of Persian knot. The foundation of the Naein rug is usually cotton with very soft wool or just wool & silk pile dyed with natural colors.

1. Flip the Rug
Just turn the rug over and take a look at its underside. An authentic Persian carpet will have slight imperfections in the knotting. This is because the knots are made entirely by hand. In machine-made rugs, the underside will not look imperfect.
2. Check out the Fringe
Not all rugs have fringes but if it does, take a closer look. If it looks like it is sewn or glued on, it is most likely machine-made. In an authentic Persian carpet, the fringe is a natural extension of the rug. Weavers just leave the extra material after they complete the side, which then forms the fringe.
3. Check the Material
Authentic Persian carpets are always made from natural materials, most commonly wool, cotton, and silk. If the rug is made from any man-made material, it’s not a genuine Persian carpet.
